New Pocket-K on Rust-Resistant Soy for Africa

In collaboration with ISAAA, 2Blades has released a new Pocket-K (Pockets of Knowledge) entitled “Rust-Resistant Soy for Africa,” that sheds light on the escalating threat of Asian soybean rust (ASR) in Africa. This publication is the latest in a series of Pocket-Ks developed by 2Blades and ISAAA, including titles on Wheat Rusts and TALENs gene-editing tools.

As demand for soybean continues to rise in Africa, ASR has emerged as a persistent and potentially devastating threat. This new Pocket-K offers valuable insights into the importance of soy and the severe threat presented by ASR. It outlines efforts to control this deadly pathogen, including an overview of 2Blades’ program to develop durable solutions for African growers. Additionally, it underscores the importance of effective partnerships to translate discoveries in the lab into impact in the field, with a framework for policymakers, scientists, non-profits, seed companies, and farmers to work together to deliver ASR-resistant soybeans for smallholder farmers.

The Rust-Resistant Soy for Africa Pocket-K is available for download HERE and the direct link to the digital version can be found HERE. Previous 2Blades-ISAAA Pocket-K publications include Rust-resistant Wheat and Plant Breeding Innovation: TALENs Transcription Activator-Like Effector Nucleases.
